My tmux workflow for coding agents - observe and search through tens of agents

Watch on YouTube (opens in a new tab)

About this video

A walkthrough of my tmux setup for working with coding agents. I show how I keep sessions organized, switch between active work, read agent output, and continue in the same terminal workflow. ClawTab adds agent context and status to tmux, with remote access when I am away from the computer. ClawTab source: https://github.com/tonisives/clawtab

Now, I'm using codex and and I'm I'm shuffling between around five projects. And then have up to I don't normally it's actually like five to 10 agents running in parallel. So, we can we can look it now. You can see here I have 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 workspaces and then different agents here running in each workspaces. And yeah, so let's look at the few workflows. I'm I'm currently creating videos, so I can search here immediately on my workspace and check for instance how is the workspace video generation going. It is working here. And what's cool about TMUX is that you can rename your windows here and then assign each specific task to this window name and then you can search them in this session window search view. So, if I navigate away from the UGC video generation, I can always come back to here and search it and go back to this UGC. For example, let's go to the blogging launch time. This one this agent has a question. It is indicated here with the exclamation mark and it also exists here in the team in the session view as well, so you can see which agents are having a question. And you can quickly switch over to them. And the green one shows that the agent is is done and the is the blue one shows that the agent is loading. Okay, and now we switch to a new agent. You can set it to continue. You can also look at the cloud tab. Overview of the agent, and we can toggle auto yes on. So, so next time it will it will auto yes and then continue and finish the task. In this uh overview, you have You have also we can rename the title here. The title will go to the main title here. And we can pin it, so we can access it in the mobile app very fast. And we can fork it. We have different models like cheap, compact, elegant, and other things. Now, going back to my UGC video, I just search and I go back to the UGC agent. And we can say that I continue working here. Another thing is losing track of your agents. Example, we were working on the search plugins for my cloud tabs. Go to this agent search view, and we [clears throat] can also search you UGC. UGC video, and and here we can see that it also searches the agent context. And and there this way you can see that if we do any other UGC work, and then go go straight to that agent as well via the search. Yeah, and and you can stay in the shell all the time. You have all your agents listed and you can go to each of them, search through them, have a good overview of them. And this way you can shuffle between them very fast and and run multiple agents in parallel. I hope this is useful for you. And if you like this workflow, then it's all open source and free. You can install the Cloud Tab, which is my app, and then the D max is has been free and open source for decades already. So, with these two two tools, you can set up the same workflow that I have going on here.
